FUSA addresses the Board, Impasse update

As you may be aware, FUSA went to the HCC Board of Trustees meeting Feb. 22 at the Plant City Campus. It was the third time FUSA has felt compelled to address the board directly regarding President Atwater and his administration over bargaining. We of course are awaiting an arbitration ruling regarding FUSA’s grievance filed against the College for not honoring our 2021-22 year of service and salary step. And as recently reported by the FUSA President and on this FUSA website, the Administration demonstrated bad faith bargaining, bringing nothing to the table to avert impasse over the 2022-2025 contract. FUSA felt it important to make it clear to the Board the details of the recent bargaining session and that the reasons we are still at impasse lie solely with President Atwater.

The Impasse Hearing is set for 9amThursday March 2nd at the new Administrative offices on the Dale Mabry Campus. We encourage all faculty to attend.

Thank you to all the faculty who have made it out to support of FUSA at bargaining, the Board actions, and FUSA council meetings . These shows of solidarity speak volumes and show Administration our collective power. We also heard from many faculty who, due understandable constraints of class and student commitments, family, and life in general, couldn’t make it. Your encouragement and support is equally appreciated. As with previous Board actions (one & two) we are posting the prepared statements read to the Board. (we also submit these to be included in the BOT minutes.)

Stay tuned! There is a lot going on both locally for FUSA and statewide for United Faculty of Florida (UFF) and Florida Education Association (FEA). You will be getting updates, action calls, and more from us in the coming weeks via email, our new SMS texting tool, as well updates on this site.
